What You Can Do

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
— Margaret Mead

Standing up to Trump can take many forms. We encourage you to use the list below to find the means of protest that resonate with you and work with your schedule and budget. For more ideas, check out the Issues tab above, and keep checking back as we add more options.

  • If you live in or around New York City, attend the Unaugural Ball on Friday Jan 20 2017 (i.e. Inauguration Day), with all proceeds going to charities combatting the Trump administration
  • Subscribe to the New York Times or Washington Post
    • This has nothing to do with elitism or ideological bias. These two papers have by far the most extensive political beats, and Trump has singled out both the Times and the Post as potential targets of lawsuits and revoked access. Supporting them financially and reading them vigorously are critical for maintaining a free and open society.
    • If possible, support your local newspaper(s) too!
  • Call your local, state, and US representatives (even ones who don't directly represent you) to voice your displeasure with Trump's nominees; see below for phone numbers of:
  • Donate to a worthwhile cause that is fighting Trump's agenda
  • Volunteer at organizations that support at-risk populations
  • If you are a lawyer, share your expertise in this document that is circulating to help those who could face legal challenges under the Trump administration; if not, share the doc with those who need it
  • Call companies that do business with or support Trump to speak out against those alliances
  • Join local protests against Trump or any of the inhumane causes that he has supported
  • Call out injustices that you witness in your daily life, be them from friends, family, or strangers, and support and champion others who bravely do the same
